Dewey Watson has represented many high-profile financial institutions, real estate and manufacturing interests and high net worth individuals since 1971. His practice emphasizes real estate and corporate tax law and litigation, regulatory compliance and administrative proceedings. In addition, he has built a substantial practice in estate planning and asset management.

Mr. Watson's tax law expertise was honed over years of representing large corporate clients before the U.S. Tax Court, U.S. District Court, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals; as well as the IRS and California's taxation agencies.

He is an active participant in the mortgage banking community, and has been a member of the California Mortgage Banker's Association Legal Issues Committee since 1986. He has served as outside counsel to the California Association of Mortgage Brokers, and participated on the Real Estate Finance Advisory Committee of the California Department of Real Estate.

Aside from his graduate teaching, he has delivered over 300 presentations to real estate interests on developments in Section 1031 (tax-deferred exchanges) and has written articles for numerous publications on various aspects of litigation management and real estate development. In addition, Mr. Watson taught Real Estate Taxation in the graduate tax program at Golden Gate University.

In public service, Mr. Watson was twice elected to the Board of Trustees of The Piedmont Unified School District and served as its president. He is President-elect of the Piedmont Council, Boy Scouts of America; is a member of the Advisory Board of the San Francisco Maritime Museum Association; was a founding Trustee and current Treasurer of the Bay Area Coalition of Equitable Schools and has served on numerous local and regional commissions.

Mr. Watson graduated from Hastings College of Law in 1971 and received his LL.M. in taxation in 1982 from Golden Gate University. He is a licensed Real Estate Broker.
